On Monday, I went to see The Five-Year Engagement (review to follow). Usually I really enjoy watching previews, but the previews before this movie were bizarre, to say the least. Two of them definitely left me wondering who exactly was going to go see them.
The upcoming movie Ted, for instance, starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. Their careers have reached a low point. And that’s including Marky-Mark’s beginnings in The Funky Bunch.
And then there’s Magic Mike, a romantic comedy about a male stripper, starring the wonderful acting talents of Channing Tatum and Mathew McConaughey. Have we really run out of ideas for romantic comedies that we need to turn to this?
I, for one, will probably not be catching either of these gems in theatres. I might watch Magic Mike should it happen to appear on tv, though. I’m oddly drawn to romantic comedies on television. I’ve seen Must Love Dogs about seven times and most other John Cusack for that exact reason.
