Star Trek and Voldemort

Have you seen the trailer for the newest Star Trek movie Into Darkness yet? If not, please watch it right now.

How intense does this look? The thing is, though, since they’ve cast Benedict Cumberbatch in the movie, I will now have to spend the entirety of the film rooting for the bad guy. I mean, Chris Pine is lovely, but he’s just not Benedict Cumberbatch, who I swear gets more attractive every time I look at him. It’s quite odd really, because he’s definitely not classically good-looking. He’s so thin and yet does this thing with his neck that inevitably gives him approximately five chins. Actually, if we’re being honest, he looks not unlike Voldemort.

He has a normal chin in this photo.

On the other hand, he is not nearly as terrifying as Ralph Fiennes. As Julia has said many a time, they didn’t alter the look of good ol’ Ralph’s mouth for the role at all, which was a mistake, because now I can never watch Maid in Manhattan again without picturing him pressing a long, skinny, pale finger to J.Lo’s forehead and hissing.

Granted, this is not a very good photo. It was taken from his Wikipedia page, surprise surprise.

The point is that I’m excited for the movie, but specifically excited for Benedict Cumberbatch in the movie.
