Guelph bikinis are Toronto’s patios

Last year I lived in the Annex in Toronto. Around this time, when we’d have some lovely super warm days all these patios would magically appear down every street. There’s a Starbucks always only five minutes away wherever you are in Toronto and all those Starbucks’ had cute little sidewalk patios. Toronto has patio bravery. 12 degrees? A little umbrella and bistro table and chairs pop out and Torontonians in spring jackets and light scarves (or just me in multiple scarves) would sit out huddled around their latte pretending it’s warm enough to justify a patio. A hint of a sunlight, a wink of a patio down a side street. They were everywhere. When the weather dipped back down, the patios were scooped back inside. When the weather timidly rose out they’d come again. It was delightful. Continue reading
