This Song Could Literally Be About Anything

If you were alive during any point in the ’90s, you will remember the (one) smash hit of the original brother pop trio, Hanson. Here’s the thing about Hanson: they were an extreme product of their era. Basically, they were just three dudes rocking the (unfortunately) long hair style of the early ’90s. Here’s the other thing about Hanson and their one hit song: it is completely incoherent. I have no idea what they’re saying at any given point during the song, except the times that they say “mmmmbop” and that’s not even a word. That’s a sound. Continue reading

A Letter to Whisperers

Dear Whisperers,

I understand that you have friends and would like to chat to them at great length about your stats class and “how super hard math is”. I also understand that Canadian literature from 1912 isn’t extremely thrilling. I’m a very understanding person. Continue reading

Increased contact does not equal decreased fear

This is a fact I learned the hard way after having been deluded by Fear Factor and the Maury Show alike. I know. With such reputable shows, how could I have possibly been misled? But I was. And I’m mad about it. Continue reading

This is not real life

I think that The Secret Life of the American Teenager might be the most hilarious show of all time. And not on purpose. Seriously, the writing is really bad. I think it might be worse than Twilight even. Continue reading

I’m in love

For those of you who don’t know me very well, I have a confession to make. I love Mother Mother. I’m now wondering how many of you think that’s a nifty little nickname I have given to my mother. Well, it isn’t. For future reference, we call my mother “Whimsical Mimsical”. Continue reading

New in shameful addictions

This time it’s not One Direction. Oh no it’s worse. This time I find myself becoming addicted to Cougar Town. I know it’s been on for quite a few seasons and is potentially in its last right now, but I’m only watching it now because I tried for so long to resist it. I used to lump Cougar Town, funnily enough, in the same category as Gilmour Girls. It was kind of funny, kind of enjoyable, but kind of melted your brain the longer you watched it. In short, I just never fully could get into it. Continue reading

I’m Pretentious

I’m taking a music class at school this semester titled “The Musical Avant-garde”. You’re probably thinking, “why would anyone do that to themselves?” Honestly, because I like to have a vast font of random information that I can tote about and sound pretentious. I’m not kidding. Continue reading

Lusts/Musts for fall

I’m getting pretty excited for fall as well. Granted, in my city it’s still extremely summer-like — which is good because I’m hoping to go to the beach for the first/last time this summer on the weekend (it’s been crazy with wedding stuff, in case you hadn’t heard) — but hopefully soon we’ll be welcoming the brisk, cool weather of fall. Continue reading
